My First Virtual Realty Experience: VR Headsets, Head Mounted Displays(HMD)

My wife and I were walking around the mall and I saw they were doing Vive demos at the Microsoft store. We jumped in line and waited. It is always a funny experience watching others in VR especially when it is room scale. I was directed to prepare myself for this and that. I signed a Microsoft waiver and I stepped into the room scale boundaries. At this point, I was ready to be underwhelmed. The first demo was "The Blu" produced by WEVR Labs. It was a very powerful experience. This is what prompted me to look at the PS4 VR to hold me over for the Vive.

COMMAND VR GAME EXPLORATIONS

Let me start off by saying VR is amazing. It is my tech passion. I am so damn fortunate to get to see this go mainstream in my lifetime. When Google Cardboard came out an engineer friend and I were pretty excited. We had just finished our first polished game in Unity and both on app 3 or 4.

VR Explorations 1

Well, I encountered a few issues with my old version of Maya 2011.5 and Domemaster and the way the camera was rendering was being funky(I could not define a distance from the geometry). I do not want to waste tons of time on getting a camera set-up properly in such an old version. I decided to purchase Mettle to see if I could get the same output quality. So far renders are much faster. No real surprise there. Below is my first go with Mettle Skybox V2.
